By now you have an idea of which are your personal inner drivers, that lead to a certain behaviour. You also got an idea of how to identify inner drivers within your team – which will help you to have deep and impactful employee coaching conversations. Overall, this will make you more successful, effective and meaningful.
Every driver can be positively influenced with the respective “enabler” – it’s the antidote which will help keeping the positive effects, but decrease the negative effects in your daily life. Check your highest inner drivers and explore the “enablers” to prepare for the next task.
TEST OF DRIVERS – core beliefs and “enablers”
BE PERFECT
Core belief: “I have to do everything even better; it’s never good enough.”
Enabler: “I can make mistakes and learn from them. Sometimes 90% can be enough.”
HURRY UP
Core belief: “I have to be quick or I won’t get it done.”
Enabler: “I can take my time and take breaks too. Some things are allowed to take longer.”
TRY HARD
Core beliefs: “I must always push myself, whatever I’m doing.”
“Life is hard.”
“No pain, no gain.”
Enabler: “I can do things in a relaxed, enjoyable and easy way. I allow myself to pause from time to time and acknowledge my achievements. “
PLEASE EVERYONE
Core belief: “I’m only of value if everyone is satisfied with me. If I say ‘no’, I’ll be rejected.”
Enabler: “I can take my needs and interests into consideration. I’m OK even if someone is unhappy with me. I can do what’s right for me too.”
BE STRONG
Core belief: “I can’t let anyone notice that I’m weak, sensitive or at a loss. You shouldn’t show your emotions. Emotions are a sign of weakness and make you vulnerable. That which does not kill us makes us stronger.”
Enabler: “I can be open to attention. It’s OK to ask for help and accept it. Showing your feelings is allowed and is a sign of strength.”
